After three years of cautious CapEx, commercial fitness equipment orders jumped 17% in Q1 2025 compared to the same period last year, according to the Health & Fitness Association's latest supplier survey. The recovery is being led not by traditional big-box gyms—which remain flat—but by hospitality and corporate wellness buyers.
Marriott International alone placed orders for 4,200 cardio units across its Renaissance and Courtyard brands in March, standardizing on Technogym's Artis line with integrated 24" touchscreens. Hilton followed in April with a retrofit program covering 180 U.S. properties, prioritizing Life Fitness and Precor units with contactless login.
Corporate campuses are an even bigger story. Google's Bay View campus unveiled a 12,000 sq ft "movement center" featuring stacks of Wattbike Atoms and Marcus Smith-designed functional rigs. Amazon, Salesforce, and JPMorgan Chase have all issued RFPs this quarter for equipment refreshes emphasizing compact footprints and noise reduction—open-plan offices don't love clanking free weights.
Supply chain wrinkles remain. Lead times for commercial-grade treadmills are back to 6–8 weeks (down from 22+ in 2022), but steel price volatility and new EU deforestation regulations on rubber flooring imports are squeezing margins. Several mid-size manufacturers, including Italy's Panatta and Germany's Gym80, have announced 4–6% list price increases effective July 1.
Distributors say the smartest operators are bundling: buying cardio + strength + locker-room IoT together from one vendor to squeeze better service contracts. "Nobody wants three different service numbers when a belt breaks," noted one regional rep. The consolidation wave that started with Technogym acquiring Wexer may not be over.
